The Schedule

Wednesdays, 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm at Cheetah Gym (5248 N Clark St)
Saturdays, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm at The Co-op (1830 W Foster Ave)
Sundays, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm at The Co-op
The dates and details for each module are as follows:
Module 1: Movement
The "what" of yoga practice. Dive into anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology through posture clinics to better understand how yoga works in the body. Explore alignment and pose customizations while deepening your personal practice. You'll also get a taste of teaching through observation, cueing, and practice teaching focused on Sun Salutations.
Wednesday, 9/9/2026 to Sunday, 10/25/2026
Module 2: Meaning
Once you're grounded in the "what," we explore the "why." Discover deeper teachings through the Eight-Limbed Path, the Bhagavad Gita, meditation, and the chakra system. Together, we'll explore how yoga extends beyond physical postures and into daily life. You'll also continue building your teaching skills through intention-setting, theming, and guided meditation.
Wednesday, 11/4/2026 to Sunday 12/20/2026 (break for Thanksgiving)
Module 3: Method
And now the "how." Bring together everything you've learned in Movement and Meaning as you develop the skills and confidence to guide others. Through sequencing, cue refinement, assists & adjustments, ethics, business, and extensive practice teaching, you'll learn how to create thoughtful and impactful yoga experiences. The program culminates with community classes, final projects, and graduation.
Wednesday, 1/6/2027 to Sunday, 2/21/2027

We will meet three days a week: Wednesday nights for 2 hours at Cheetah Gym 4 blocks away, and Saturday and Sunday for 3 hours each at the studio. Each module will last 6-7 weeks, with a 1-2 week break in between each module.
Module 1 will cover alignment, anatomy, and physiology. Module 2 will dive into philosophy, meditation, and energy. Each module will have an element of practice teaching, with the bulk of the teaching-specific content in Module 3.
Our sessions will consist of lectures, large group work, small group work, reading discussions, and practice teaching. Module 3 will conclude with group-taught community classes, a final exam, and a karma yoga project to give back to the neighborhood.
We will utilize Google Classroom to keep track of hours, host session recordings, share important/fun/funny information, and stay in communication throughout the program and beyond.

Not at all! We suggest having some kind of relationship with the practice already — a year or two of practice could be helpful. However, everyone is on their own journey and has their own connection to yoga. If you’re curious, open, and are yearning to grow and learn, then this program is for you!
-
No worries! This will be a hybrid program with the option to join from home if making it in person is tough sometimes. If you cannot make it virtually, we will record our sessions for you to watch back at a later date. Recordings will be kept for one year before deletion.
We encourage in person attendance if possible, as well as live participation over recordings. The opportunity for questions and dialogue is often missed via video playback.
If you are planning to miss more than a handful of sessions, we recommend waiting for another round, or signing up for a future offering of a module so you get the best experience possible.

Should you complete all three modules, pass the final exam, fulfill your karma yoga project, and participate in the final practicum, you will receive a 200-Hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Certification from The Collective Yoga Co-op. You can then go out and start auditioning, teach on Zoom, continue learning through our Mentorship program…the options are endless!
In addition to your certificate, you will leave the program with a full 60-minute sequence that you can take with you to begin your teaching career. Your online classroom will also remain active should there be any audition announcements we hear of, continuing education opportunities, or just to stay in touch!

You’re in good company. Lots of people sign up for Yoga Teacher Trainings unsure if they want to teach. That is exactly why we built it to be modular with minimal practice teaching at the beginning, and all of the teaching-specific lectures at the end. Many people figure out after the first few weeks of training that they really enjoy the teaching aspect, even if that reasoning was secondary at sign up.
Some people join YTT to learn more about their personal practice, others do it to improve public speaking while doing something they enjoy, and others are looking for a full career shift. Whatever your reasoning is, we’re happy to welcome you into the classroom with open arms.
-
If you’re intending on combining all three modules into the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, we highly recommend doing all three as they are offered. Doing them out of order could mean the information will not build as intended. Also, waiting a year or more to do another module may mean that the information covered will fade over time.
We understand that life happens, and there may be circumstances outside of your control that may affect attendance and are happy to accommodate. We will work with you as much as possible in passing the final exam, finishing your karma yoga project, and completing your practicum.

No — and intentionally and proudly so. The yoga industry is highly audition-based, rather than governed by one specific organization. Thousands of years ago (even just three decades ago), there were no governing bodies of yoga — and even in other countries, this concept does not exist. There was a student and a teacher.
It is our belief that Yoga Alliance exists primarily as a marketing tool, rather than a credentialing body; they are also not a regulating force in the U.S. or elsewhere. We have worked with Yoga Alliance before in multiple capacities, and have made the conscious decision to not affiliate our training with them, or any other organization.
This does not mean we do not believe in credentialing or quality programming — our YTT will not only meet, but exceed all of Yoga Alliance’s minimum standards. We will subscribe to a governing body of yoga when one comes to the forefront that is aligned with our values, and the values of yoga.
